Starting July 2018, RVSD will begin using 100 percent renewable energy through Marin Clean Energy's Deep Green program. RVSD currently uses 50 percent renewable energy.
The change to Deep Green renewable energy supports the sustainability goals of the 2016 RVSD Strategic Plan and supports the local governments and State of California climate action plan and resiliency goals. Annual O&M costs will be increased by less than 0.05 percent, or about $8,000 per year.
According to MCE, RVSD is the first sanitary district in MCE's service area to vote to begin using 100 percent California renewable electricity through Marin Clean Energy's Deep Green service.
